High Cut Records (Durham College Non-Profit)
2020-2022
Marketing // Co-Manager -High Cut Records
High Cut Records is a student-led non-profit record label run by Durham College’s Music Business Management students. In my first year in the program, I worked in the marketing department where I would assist in running social media such as the High Cut Instagram Page and Youtube Channel. As a member of the marketing team, I was also responsible for helping artists on the label with branding and optimizing their Digital Streaming Profiles.
In my second year working as a part of the High-Cut team, I was promoted to Co-Manager of the label where I assisted in hiring, assigning duties to team members, and ensuring A&Rs, Managers, and Marketing Team members were proactive in finding opportunities for the initiative.
Business Planning
Each year we were tasked with creating a business plan that broke down the core purpose of High Cut Records.
This allowed us to work as a team to layout our goals, responsibilities, mission, and individual contributions.

Project Updates
While working within High Cut would regularly present updates to the Music Business Management students and professors. This gave us a chance to participate in meetings with a large volume of attendees (100+) and provide opportunities to creatively think of ways we can collaborate and ask for any deliverables from other infinitives. This also helped us as a team connect and work on our presentation and collaborative working skills. Showcasing our chemistry as a team was a great way to show how well we all worked as a team.
Artist Contracts
As a manager of High Cut Records I was responsible for ensuring all admin duties were met. A big portion of this early in the year is ensuring all artists sign their agreements with their respective A&R so that we can distribute and market their music at High Cut Records. We would collect and file these contracts to avoid any disputes around the distribution and marketing of their music.
Weekly Reports
Throughout the two years in High Cut Records we would set a series of goals for each semester. These goals would be directly related to our personal and professional growth in areas we wish to improve on or learn about. Some of my goals throughout the semesters were focused around the creative process, leadership, confidence, and networking. This challenged us to meet a certain amount of hours each year with tasks that directly correspond with these goals; showing that we are actively working on accomplishing the goals. We also were asked to include our challenges in achieving these goals; this allowed us to think critically about how to overcome these obstacles.
I was able to learn a lot researching certain topics related to my goals, and really both teach and learn at the same time when trying to improve on qualities such as leadership and confidence.
Label Wars
Annually High Cut Records hosts a label wars event which consists of 2 Student Ran non-profit labels competing in series of events, games and trivia while showcasing talent from each labels roster. The event acts as a great way to get other initiatives involved in some friendly competition while showcasing talent within the MBM ecosystem
